I started this painting at Pearl Buck’s estate in the
summer of 2022.
I wanted to get the shadows before the light
changed. It was already getting hot that morning
and I decided I would finish it in my studio.

"When I find an interesting subject, I paint it. My subjects reflect something that is a flicker of a memory
or an emotion, and I try not to let that go by.”
“I prefer watercolor; there is a magic with this medium. But, sometimes, my ideas sing out for painting with
oils.”
