You become conscious of sunlight in an entirely new way, when you hang stained glass from a window. The saturated colors become rubies, sapphires and emeralds to me. I never cease to be amazed at the play of light, changing the tones of the glass, depending on what time of day it is.
There is something/everything about touching history from doing the work in almost the same way as it's been done for hundreds of years. Additionally, as you are making heirloom pieces of art, you are also touching a piece of the future.
My inspiration for a design can come from anywhere, from a shampoo label to a window display. I "see" the finished piece in my mind and sort of work backwards when creating the panel.
