This piece was inspired by a song by Cody Johnson that talks about the grace of God and stepping out into the light from the darkness of pain, sadness. Humbly coming into the light of hope and life is what I felt creating this piece. It fits well with ESA’s mission.

Artist Info
Hello, my name is Abby Longshore. I hope my work brings a bit of peace and reminder of happy, simple times and good memories. Creating commissions for people can be quite rewarding. Seeing emotional reactions to a piece so personal is extremely satisfying as an artist.
I am basically self-taught and constantly explore and learn. I love recreating images using old photos of rural, industrial, or “vintage” America and am always inspired by the themes of overcoming obstacles, hard work, then finding comfort, escape and dreaming. Illustrating connection between humans and nature are also consistent theme. I work mostly in acrylic, pastels, as well as watercolor, pencil and mixed media. The main style is realistic or illustrative. I want my work to tell a story.
I am an Ohio native and lifelong Buckeye. My husband and I have two sons. We live on several acres in the rolling hills of rural Ohio. Family has always been my first priority, however I always found ways to be creative, taking a class here and there as time has allowed through the years around kids, and unpredictable schedules. I was fortunate enough to find Sunbear Studio and Gallery and began working with Meredith Martin. Now, as the boys have gotten older, I’m excited to finally have more time to devote to art, health, wellness and helping others do the same.
