This piece is part of a greater body of work called Rue de Fleurus. Rue de Fleurus is a street in Paris near the Luxembourg gardens. It is not a very long street but its best unkept secret is 27 rue de fleurus where Gertrude Stein used to live. Ms. Stein was a writer and avid art collector. She would entertain Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse and Ernest Hemmingway just to name a few. This is a monoprint printed on Arches 140lb paper. I apply layers of ink and then proceed to reduce the ink until I get a desired effect. The print is then finished with dry pastels. This particular floral print appears to have hearts swaying in a breeze.
