About This Artwork

This is one of a series of sculptures I made from styrofoam packing box liners.  Once the product it was protecting is removed, the styrofoam form is mysterious, and part of our contemporary ecological nightmare.  These forms multiply and are fast becoming our unnatural “rocks”.  I wondered what would happen if nature tried to reclaim them as rocks.  They represent a sort of hybrid manmade-natural object.  Is the line between natural and manmade becoming a blur?  What is real?  I include a small UV flashlight with this sculpture to light up the glowing paints, especially at night.
